Mr. Russo received his B.A. in Political Science in 1977 from American University and his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1980. He is licensed to practice in the state courts of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and is admitted to the federal courts in both New York and New Jersey.
A practicing attorney for over 25 years, Mr. Russo is one of the founding members of the firm. Over the course of his career he has tried over 60 jury trial cases to verdict and has successfully argued many appeals. He is a regular lecturer for the National Business Institute on Trial Advocacy and has served as an instructor for the Corporation Counsel's Trial Advocacy Program at Fordham University School of Law. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Defense Association of New York. Mr. Russo is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.
Mr. Russo began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Queens County District Attorney's Office. He served with distinction for several years prosecuting felony cases as a trial assistant and acting Chief of a Supreme Court Trial Bureau. Mr. Russo made the transition to civil litigation over 20 years ago. Since then he has tried and won many high exposure civil liability verdicts and appeals while representing major insurance carriers, self-insured corporate entities, and product manufacturers. The cases he has handled span the full spectrum of insurance defense practice areas including premises liability, construction accidents, products liability, toxic torts, property damage claims, professional malpractice and insurance coverage disputes.
Mr. Russo's broad experience and achievement gained from trying high exposure civil liability cases over many years enabled him to establish RUSSO, KEANE & TONER, LLP, in 1996. Since the firm's inception, he has been instrumental in leading the evolution of the firm into what it is today, a full service insurance defense firm. Mr. Russo currently handles complex high exposure trials and regularly advises major insurance carriers and self-insured entities on matters relating to tort liability, trial practice, insurance coverage, and litigation strategy.
