Mr. Gould joined the firm in July, 2002 and became a member of the firm in January, 2006. Prior to joining Russo, Keane and Toner, Mr. Gould was Senior Trial Counsel for Cullen & Dykman, LLP. At Cullen & Dykman, he served as lead trial counsel for entities including the KeySpan (formerly Brooklyn Union Gas) and several major insurance companies.
A seasoned litigator, Mr. Gould's key areas of practice at Cullen & Dykman included premises, 205E General Municipal Law cases, liability and automobile accidents, lead paint litigation, employment discrimination and professional malpractice defense. Mr. Gould led the firm's alternative dispute resolution team, overseeing inter-company arbitration in the field of first and third party insurance claims. He has written and argued briefs before the Appellate Division and the Appellate Term. During his career, Mr. Gould has participated in over 75 trials and has tried over 25 cases to verdict.
Mr. Gould began his career as an Assistant District Attorney with the District Attorney’s Office in Queens County. In more than three years with that office, he served in the forensics, arraignments, trial and grand jury bureaus. During his tenure he tried numerous misdemeanor and felony cases to verdict. Following the D.A's office, Mr. Gould was associated with the law firm of Cheven and Keely in Manhattan. His key areas of practice there included automobile litigation, no-fault arbitration and insurance coverage disputes. Mr. Gould is the author of Criminal Defense Techniques: A Practitioner's Guide (1995), a chapter of the Criminal Defense Technique Handbook published by Matthew Bender and Company. For the past 15 years he has been an Adjunct Professor at the City University of New York — Queens College where he teaches courses such as Freedom of Speech, Trial Advocacy and Media Law and Ethics.
Mr. Gould holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Wisconsin at Madison which he earned in 1986. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Pace University School of Law in 1991. He is admitted to practice law in the Courts of the State of New York as well as the Federal Courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts.
