Michael J. Sweeney is an associate with the firm.  He received a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Fordham University and an M.A. in Journalism from Stanford University. He obtained his J.D. from Rutgers University, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board.

Before law school, Mr. Sweeney was a reporter for several newspapers in upstate New York including the Syracuse Herald Journal, where he covered the courts, police, government and regional issues. After graduating from law school, Mr. Sweeney served as law clerk to New Jersey Superior Court Judge John F. Callinan in Cape May, New Jersey. 

Mr. Sweeney is an accomplished trial attorney. He has handled over 70 trials and has obtained defense verdicts in several cases. He has prepared and argued appeals in the appellate courts in New York and New Jersey.  For over 15 years, Mr. Sweeney has focused his practice on the defense of construction, automobile, premises, and general liability cases.  He has represented construction companies and building owners in construction-related accidents involving application of the New York State Labor Law and violations of the Industrial Code.  He has also represented defendant premises owners and product manufacturers in toxic tort cases involving lead paint poisoning and asbestos law suits.

Mr. Sweeney is admitted to practice law in the State Courts of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as well as the Federal Courts in New Jersey and in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
